The problem

Institutional apps are usually specified from a written brief and built for an imagined user on an imagined device. In a national medical university neither assumption survives contact with the actual user population.

The approach

Requirements were gathered directly from university stakeholders rather than inferred from a brief, and the interface was designed for the university’s real user population and device mix — then tested across device classes and OS versions before release.
